Charting a Legacy of Transformation
In December 2020, the seed of Talitha Cumi as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) took root. This genesis traced back to a pivotal realization by the director, Carmelita Jeftha. Having previously steered a Private Company with a focus on training and development, she collaborated with esteemed entities like the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), Department of Social Development (DSD), Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), and others. Their collective expertise and shared commitment laid the foundation for the transformative journey ahead.
Engaging in diverse topics such as Leadership, Representative Council of Learners (RCL) camps, workplace ethics, and the Batho Pele Principles, the journey unfolded. Yet, amid these efforts, a profound observation surfaced—there was a lack of coordinated, holistic service delivery for youth. This realization served as a catalyst, igniting the passion to address systemic challenges and create sustainable solutions to empower the younger generation.
Recognizing this gap, Talitha Cumi was conceived not merely as an organization but as a platform. A platform to champion the unmet needs of our youth, providing not just services but support, advocacy, and a guiding hand throughout their personal, social, and educational development. The vision wasn't solitary; it was a collective aspiration to forge partnerships with fellow youth development service providers, creating a unified force to empower the journey of our youth toward their fullest potential.
